Laurel soap has been associated with the ancient city of Aleppo for four thousand years, and the people of Aleppo excel in the manufacture of laurel soap, with families renowned for this craft supplying the market with the finest types of soap ever, which has multiple benefits for the human body and hair due to its olive oil content. 

Stages of laurel soap production: After harvesting the olives and extracting the oil, the olive oil is boiled with water and caustic soda. After two days, the mixture is poured onto a very large floor, and the workers wait until it is partially dry before moving on to the process of cutting the soap into intersecting lines lengthwise and widthwise to form bars. These are then arranged and sold after the factory's stamp is placed on each bar of soap. 

The soap industry has not changed significantly since then, as it still maintains the traditional, semi-manual production method.
