Stories of Success and Entrepreneurship of Creative Syrian Women
Initiative: “Syria, Mother of All”
Syria – Hama, April 3–4, 2021
Since its
establishment in 2010, Artizana Syria has continued its efforts to support and
develop the national handicraft sector and to preserve the cultural and human
heritage, which can only be safeguarded and passed on through collective
cooperation to ensure its continuity across generations.
In a step
to encourage and support Syrian women in home-based and traditional crafts,
Artizana Syria organized an exhibition titled “Syria, Mother of All” in Hama
Governorate. The exhibition showcased products of traditional and home-based
handicrafts, featuring rural women who are the primary providers for their
families. These women presented a pioneering model of successful and creative
Syrian women.
The
project also aims to invite economic stakeholders to participate in supporting
and improving the productive conditions of these women, with the hope of
rescuing entire families from poverty and hardship. As part of the initiative,
the participants visited a nursing home, where they presented handmade gifts
crafted by the women featured in the exhibition.
